GO TERRIERS!! – Audrey Ericksen Commits to Boston University

L. Waters, Staff Writer

If you don’t know Audrey Ericksen, you’re missing out. She has been a star on our women’s basketball team for the past three years. She has received many accolades as well as being a consistent scorer for Green Level, averaging 10.3 PPG. She’s been a leader on and off the court. When not in the gym, you will find her as one of the lead Goonies cheering on her fellow Gators!

On August 24, Audrey announced her commitment to continuing her academic and athletic career at Boston University. This amazing accomplishment has made Audrey the first lady gator to attend a Division 1 school for women basketball.

I asked Audrey a few questions regarding the recruitment process and the factors that made her choose Boston:

What was your recruitment process like? “My recruitment process was stressful, chaotic, confusing, but so fun and rewarding. I was having conversations with coaches every night and always had the question on my mind of where my future home would be. It’s surreal that recruitment is over, especially with it becoming very hectic in the end. With the 2023 class, we had to deal with roster spots being taken by transfer players and 5th years from covid. I have so much respect for all the coaches who took the time to convince me into joining their programs. My family, friends, and coaches were my support system during the process, and I am so grateful.”

What were your top 3 schools and what made you choose Boston? “To be honest, my top 3 were constantly changing, but Boston was always in it. When it comes to terrier basketball, the coaching staff is so talented and so focused on their players which stuck out to me a lot. The girls were so welcoming and the culture they demonstrated during my visit was exactly what I wanted, a loud, competitive, supportive, and hard-working team. Boston has been top 3 in the patriot league for the past couple of years, and will continue to compete for a championship, hopefully, something I can contribute to! Academically, BU will also help me pursue any career I choose, and challenge me day in and day out. And location-wise, Boston University is a city campus, which was a major plus as well. During my visit in August, I knew right away that Boston was where I wanted to commit and I am so excited to become a terrier.”

How has Green Level influenced you as a basketball player? “Green Level Women’s Basketball is such a special program. We have had a winning record every year, pulling off upsets left and right, and getting better continuously. Coach Woolf inspires a competitive atmosphere, which Coach Rob created during my freshman year as well. The assistant coaches, Gentry and Poland, are so supportive and preach the same principles as well. We are a family on and off the court which is what makes us so special. Green Level basketball has made me tougher mentally and physically, and taught me about family, culture, and becoming a leader.”

Congratulations Audrey! Looking forward to seeing all that you accomplish at BU! Go Terriers!!
