On Thursday, Sept. 29th, our Green Level Football Team competed in our school’s first annual homecoming game versus the Apex Cougars.

The homecoming game is a common tradition of welcoming back alumni to celebrate the establishment of a school. Due to last year being Green Level’s first graduating class, this year was our first homecoming game followed by a dance on Saturday, Oct. 1st.

Each quarter, the Gators continued to compete, with Q1 ending 0-21, Q2: 0-14, Q3: 0-7, and Q4 in a 0-0 tie.

At half-time, the Green Level Homecoming Court walked onto the field to be recognized for the first time in school history.

The Gator Goonies showed in their class colors to end a successful fall spirit week, and Green Level’s Marching Band performed, adding onto the excitement.

By the end of the game, the Cougars came out on top with a 0-42 win over the Gators.

Marching Band Drum Major, Megan Wilson, tells us how Thursday night’s game was special, “It was different because we didn’t get to perform at halftime, but it was more fun because there was a different energy and spirits were still high even though the game didn’t go as we had hoped.”
