Gymnastics Wins State Championships
November 7, 2022
This past weekend, the Green Level women’s gymnastics team won the state championship for the first time in school history. The whole team performed extremely well, with one standout moment being Ava-Marie scoring a perfect 10 on bars. We interviewed Bella Ross and Ava-Marie Callahan about this meet and their future goals.
What led to the team performing this well and winning the state championship?
Ava- Over the course of the season it was up and down, we didn’t win our conference meet so we were motivated to win states
Bella- I think things just came together at the right time, our team chemistry was really good at this meet which I think was part of the reason we did so well.
What was going through your mind when you found out you won states?
Ava- I was really happy because I have been working towards a ten for the past few years I’ve been competing.
Bella- We didn’t even think we placed, and it was so exciting when they called our name, it was just so cool.
What do you hope to accomplish at the next level?
Bella- I hope to win a conference with my collegiate team and then go to NCAA nationals as an individual.
What do you want to accomplish with the team next year?
Ava- I would say more consistency with being top 3 during regular season meets and then winning conference or states.
Congratulations Gators and good luck next year!
