Gator’s Favorite Christmas Songs
December 9, 2022
There’s no better way to get in the Christmas spirit than listening to Christmas music. Around 85% of Americans celebrate Christmas and listen to Christmas music right after Thanksgiving passes.
Holiday music improves a person’s mood. The nostalgia of listening to your favorite Christmas music has a pleasant neurological effect that stimulates the brain’s pleasure circuit. This releases dopamine and serotonin, which are responsible for those happy feelings! There are plenty of Christmas songs out there made by a variety of artists, but some of the most known is “Rocking around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee, “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms, “Mistletoe” by Justin Beiber, “Snowman” by Sia, “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey, and more. In the Guinness World Record Book, not only did the Christmas song, “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby the best-selling Christmas/holiday single in the United States, but it’s known for being the best-selling single of all time, with sales of around 50 million copies worldwide.
We’ve asked some Green Level students about their favorite Christmas songs, and there were a lot of different opinions, but “All I want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey topped them all. Freshmen and sophomores said, “Baby it’s cold outside”, “Winter Wonderland”, “All I want for Christmas is You”, “Mistletoe”, “Feliz Navidad”, and Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer” were the best Christmas songs to listen to. Juniors and Seniors said that “Frosty the Snowman”, “All I want for Christmas is You”, “Feliz Navidad”, “Santa’s coming to Town”, “Santa Tell Me”, and “Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer” was their favorite Christmas songs.
There are no better Christmas songs than the original ones, but watch out for the new songs that came out this year! Lizzo, Camilla Cabello, Backstreet Boys, and more have plenty of new songs to lift your spirits! To get the nostalgic Christmas feeling to get ready for this holiday season, just turn on some Christmas songs!
