Last Tuesday (10/8/19) you may have seen some members of the Women’s Tennis team leaving school early to go to Cary Tennis Park. Diya Ramchandani, Arya Kalluru, Milla Grabowski, Bridgette Bensal, Tanvi Sapre, and Lizzy Novellli were the few selected from the team to compete in this Tri-8 tournament. Arya Kalluru and Milla Grabowski battled hard at singles each playing someone much older than them. We spoke to Kalluru after her matches and she told us “When I played those players last time they beat me really easily and it made my confidence go down. I was really nervous for the tournament, but with the support that I had from my teammates and coach, I got up the courage to fight for a win.”

So, let’s talk about this great support system!

Alice Kim, Bridgette Bensal, and Sania Musti all came out to support Kalluru, Sapre, and Ramchandani at the second tournament day that they moved on to compete in. Armed with team member support, coaches’ words of wisdom, and Athletic Director Fegeley’s high fives, all of our girls had the positivity to fight for a Green Level win!

Doubles was one of the longest matches because they split sets meaning they won one and lost one. While the score was 6-3, 3-6, they had to play a third set which they managed to pull out with a finishing score of 6-2. Kalluru’s singles match went well causing her to also finish in 3rd place moving half of our competing players to regionals. Make sure to give your lady gator’s a big, “Good Luck,” for their competition at Pinehurst!
