Green Level Wrestling Crushes The Catamounts
January 5, 2023
On Wednesday, January 4th, the Gators faced off against the Catamounts in a wrestling match to be remembered.
SOPH. wrestler, Will Estes, started off the night with a pin in 1:03, putting Green Level up 6-0. The Catamounts bounced back from this rough start by getting three straight pins, making the score 18-6; Catamounts in the lead. One match halfway through the meet was especially impressive with Green Level’s own FR. Gabe Sadler pinning his opponent in only 23 seconds. After this pin, the Gators trailed 30-18 with plenty of time left to make a comeback. With back-to-back pins for Green Level, the score gets tied 30-30.
At this point, the meet was anyone’s game, all that mattered was who had more heart and wanted it more. After yet another win for the Gators, JR. Aiden Middleton gets a big win by fall, putting Green Level ahead 39-30. SR. Symon Sadler finished out the night with a 36-second pin, resulting in a final score of 45-36, a crazy comeback for the Gators.
Estes has had a great season, getting a winning pin in the meet against Cary, and now starting off the night against Panther Creek with a big pin. I asked him a few questions about the season.
How do you feel about your performance against Panther Creek?
“I think I performed pretty well, I would say I wrestled pretty aggressively and defensively.”
How do you think the team performed against Panther Creek?
“I think they all put their best foot forward, there are still some things we could improve, but overall we did really good.”
What are your goals for the rest of the season?
“To win.”
