Winter Season Directors Award Winners

On Monday, Green Level Athletics had the chance to celebrate a phenomenal winter season. Ranging from track nationals, to first time playoff appearances, conference champs, and even state qualifiers. Many awards were handed out to many talented athletes, but we wanted to showcase two special individuals who were recognized that night.

The Directors Award is given out to one male and one female athlete. It represents those who have had an impact in and out of their sport, making a difference in some way, and setting a standard for Gator athletics. This season, it was Tye Cain and Lily Silvera.

Tye Cain plays for the men’s basketball team, and is a key factor for the team’s success. He was able to lead the Gators in a history-making season, and he will return next year! Tye is described as a fierce competitor with great compassion for the game. He makes everyone better around him due to his desire to win, hard work, and have fun. This point guard is loved on and off the court, and the Gators are lucky to have him.

Lily Silvera, “The Pioneer”, is a women’s wrestler at the Swamp. Coach Kovach said she “will literally change a program,” and that is just what she did. Lily qualified for states this season, while leading the women’s wrestling team in their first year at Green Level. She continues to push herself and others to reach their full potential. We are excited to see what’s in store next for Lily and Gator Wrestling.
