Excitement is in the air as 2024 approaches, bringing with it a variety of new movies. Whether you prefer comedies, dramas, or jaw-dropping action films, the upcoming releases have got it all. With creative directors, talented actors, and stunning visuals, this year of films will go down in history. There are so many movies releasing in 2024. However, I’ve narrowed it down to what I think will be the top six.

Number 6:

The highly anticipated third installment, Deadpool 3 brings back the beloved bad-guy turned superhero with his fourth-wall-breaking humor, wit, and inability to take anything seriously. This time, Deadpool finds himself facing his biggest problem yet, as he travels through a world where mutants are scarce. Determined to be the hero, he assembles a team of misfits to take on a dangerous villain. This movie is packed with action and unexpected twists that will have you on the edge of your seat. Like the previous movies in the Deadpool trilogy, Deadpool 3 promises a perfect blend of superhero chaos and comedic brilliance, which fans have previously loved.

Number 5: 

With Hall-of-Fame actor Heath Ledger passing away, some say there will never be another actor to play the Joker like he did. However, with the release of Joker in 2019, Joaquin Phoenix proved he has what it takes to fill the role. With the anticipated sequel Joker: Folie A Deux we dive deeper into the insane mind of Gotham’s most notorious supervillain. Set in a dark and evil atmosphere, the movie will explore the toxic relationship between the Joker and his female counterpart, Harley Quinn. As their twisted relationship unfolds, we witness the beginning of their evil partnership, which causes chaos and mayhem in Gotham City. We’re promised an eerie and psychologically intense experience, which plays perfectly into finding out who the Joker really is. This movie focuses on Joker’s descent into insanity and ascent into power, as well as his deranged relationship with Harley Quinn.

Number 4:

Even though Bob Marley passed away 4 decades ago, his legacy lives on. The heartwarming movie One Love will take us through a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and love. The story follows two people who live different lives but are brought together by fate. As they find their way through the complexities of their own struggles, they find peace and understanding in each other’s company. Through tears, love, and laughter, they discover how powerful and important love truly is. With a heart-touching storyline, amazing cast, and angelic soundtrack, One Love is going to go down in history as one of the best bibliographic movies of all time. 

Number 3:

Some consider The Lion King to be one of the greatest films of all time, so hopes are high for the release of Mufasa: The Lion King. With this live-action adaptation, we are transported into the African savannah as we witness the iconic story of Mufasa, the wise lion king. Voiced by an incredible cast, Mufasa’s commanding presence and love for his son, Simba, are beautifully portrayed as he bestows valuable life lessons, including the importance of embracing responsibility and “the circle of life.” Featuring stunning visuals, a catchy soundtrack, and the timeless tale of Mufasa’s legacy, the reimagined version of The Lion King will capture the hearts of both older and younger audiences. Prepare for the rollercoaster of emotions, adventure, and nostalgia as Mufasa takes his place as the true Lion King.

Number 2:

With Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse leaving off on a cliffhanger, the anticipation for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is high. This movie will take us through a breathtaking journey through the Spider-Verse. Building off of the first Spider-Verse movie, this sequel introduces us to new heroes and expands on the already complex universe. As a web-slinging teen, Miles Morales faces new challenges and discovers his true potential, he must form an alliance with a diverse group of Spider-People from different dimensions. With unique animations and action sequences, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse promises to be a visually stunning and emotional adventure, that truly shows “With great power, comes great responsibility.”

Number 1:

With the first two Avatar movies being box-office successes, we can expect nothing less for the release of Avatar 3. We will return to the mesmerizing world of Pandora, where the battle for the planet’s future is at an all-time high. Directed by visionary filmmaker James Cameron, this movie takes us deeper into the unique Na’vi culture and its connections to the planet’s ecosystem. As the tensions rise between the Na’vi and human colonizers, we will witness the unraveling of epic battles that test the limits of loyalty, love, and sacrifice. With groundbreaking visuals, immersive 3D technology, and an amazing storyline, Avatar 3 promises an otherworldly experience for its audience. This movie has high expectations, but from the looks of it, it will blow our expectations out of the water.
