The NFL season is finally back so you know what that means! Fantasy Football is officially back. Week one of the NFL season came to a close on Monday, September 9. Let’s take a look back at the recap of week 1 of Fantasy Football.
Starting with Isaiah likely on Thursday Night Football the TE took his new role in the Baltimore offense to good use. Despite the loss the TE put up 9 receptions for 111 yards and 1 touchdown which is equivalent to 26.1 fantasy points, and TE1 in all of Fantasy Football. Another player from the same game but on the opposing team, the Chiefs, put up 20.8 points in his first NFL game as a rookie, Xavier Worthy. He had 2 receptions for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns one in the air and one on the ground. I asked Green Level high school students who play Fantasy Football what they thought about his performance. Sahil Patel said “ I really like how he is involved in the offense game plan and I believe he’s going to be a big weapon for the Chiefs and possibly have a great rookie year.” Another student named Austin Conway said, “ I have Xavier Worthy on my team and he’s going to be great this year for Fantasy and he’s going to be a big part of why I win my league this year and dominate”.
Moving along to Friday’s game the Packers vs the Eagles, the top performers from this game came from each team. Starting off with Jayden Reed from the Packers who caught 4 receptions for 138 yards and had 1 TD in the air and 1 on the ground. Our other outstanding player is Saquon Barkely from the Eagles he rushed 24 times for 109 yards and had 2 touchdowns on the ground and 1 in the air, 3 touchdowns in total! Anthony Zheng spoke on Saquon’s performance saying “ I am a Giants fan and when I had to opportunity to draft Saquon Barkley I knew I was going to get high performance games from him and it showed on Friday night vs the Packers and I’m excited to see what else he can do this season in Fantasy”.
Lastly moving on to Sunday’s games we had multiple big performances. First up we have Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills he had a monster game against the Cardinals throwing for 232 yards and having 4 total touchdowns on the day (2 rushing, 2 passing). This totals out to 31.2 Fantasy points. Ian Juliano, another student interviewed said, “Josh Allen is a great QB but during the Fantasy drafts people were doubting if Josh Allen was a good pick because all his weapons left or were traded to other teams, but he proved all the haters wrong and displayed a masterpiece for the first week”. Joe Mixon from the Texans also had a day himself he rushed 30 times for 159 yards and 1 touchdown to earn 26.8 Fantasy points. Last but not least Cooper Kupp the man who was hurt almost all last year is finally back. He caught 14 receptions for 110 yards and 1 TD for 32 Fantasy points. We have a quote from Maaz Kazmi on Cooper Kupp saying “Cooper Kupp has been overshadowed by Puka Nacua this whole time throughout the draft and during week 1 as well but since Puka Nacua is out, Cooper Kupp got to show he still is a top 10 WR in the league and is going to prove Fantasy Managers wrong this season”. There are a lot of guys who had big weeks that were left off the list, stay tuned for next week’s recap.
