In Week One of the Goon Squad, the team went 1-1. Although they lost the game, the Goon Squad prepared themselves for their Week 2 matchups. In week 2, they are playing Raleigh Eagles (Enloe High School) and C-Town Comets (Clayton High School).

The score in the loss against Garner was 60-51. Sr. Isaac Ericksen had 20 points, while Jr. Trevor Manhertz and Jr. Garret Midkiff had 10 points each. I asked Isaac how they played as a team he said, “I thought that we played a great game together after the first 3 minutes of the game where we started very slow and let them get a big lead.” They came back in the end but ended up falling up short of the win.

In the second game against Southeast Raleigh (Team Raleigh), they won 48-46. Jr. Trevor Manhertz had 12 points and Jr. Andrew Schall made 3 three-pointers. Isaac Ericksen had the 2 game winning free throws with 1 second left, to escape the game with a victory. 

As they look to go 2-0 in Week 2, Sr. Izzy Eatman said, “I look forward to competing in the league, growing as a team, and getting better as a player”. This week the Goon Squad plays Clayton High School and Enloe High School as they look to go 3-1.
