Last week, a new mural was set up along the giant wall in the dance & theatre hallway. The mural celebrates the importance of arts here at Green Level, and what it means to us. Performing arts allows students to express themselves creatively, and lets them explore their emotions in a safe environment.
The mural showcases the dedication of the students in multiple different photos, representing the marching band, theatre, dance, color guard, visual arts, and many more. The wall in the dance and theatre hallway is very long, and before the mural was put up it looked bleak, but now, the space feels more alive.
The mural also serves as an educational tool for students, and a recruiting tool for incoming freshmen, other students, and visitors who want to get to know a little bit more about the arts here. The new mural also means a lot to Ms. Craig, the theatre teacher.
Ms. Craig says, “I love that it brought life to the hallway, I love that it no longer feels sterile out there. I love getting to see current and former students because there are alumni up there.”
Students shouldn’t have to feel like they’re in a pigeonhole and should explore every part of performing and visual arts they would like to. The mural represents our community, and it shows the hard work of students, teachers, and artists who should continue to dream big.
