On Saturday, October 19th, Sabrina Carpenter brought the Short n’ Sweet tour to Raleigh, NC! The show was sold out, and over 20,000 people attended.
Despite the heavy traffic, fans still made it to the show, and they did not disappoint, especially when it came to their outfits. Fans wore their pastel colors, platform shoes, babydoll dresses, sparkles, kiss marks, and some replicas of her most iconic looks (heart cutouts, music videos, etc). During the concert, Sabrina even mentioned how she loved how everyone came to the concert all dressed up in cute outfits, and how she loved whenever fans took their time to make their outfits for her concerts.
Tour-exclusive merch was set up around the stadium. Fans lined up in front of the merch stands and bought merch. From hats to socks to posters, to shirts, there was a wide variety of merchandise and shirts that could be purchased. Sabrina’s style is very modern yet vintage, incorporating old Hollywood glamor with the babydoll aesthetic.
Doors opened around 6 and fans quickly flooded the arena. Her opener for this show was Griff, and she came on stage at 7:00. She performed her hit songs Vertigo and Miss Me Too, as well as a cover of the song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! Other openers of the tour include Amaarae and Declan McKenna.
After the opening act, Sabrina Came on stage at 8:50 wearing Carolina Blue! She sang her hit song Taste. She also performed other songs like Good Graces and Tornado Warnings. Fans were so loud and cheered as soon as she came on stage. The set of the stage was similar to a doll house, having a bathroom, stairs, and a bedroom, including a runway that led to a little heart stage that could go up and down.
During her second act, Sabrina After Dark, fans screamed their hearts out as she performed her classics like Feather, Nonsense, and Fast Times, which are songs from her Emails I Can’t Send albums which are personal fan favorites! At the end of the act, Sabrina gave a speech to the crowd, mentioning how terrible the traffic was, but in the end, everyone still made it!
“I was like… this traffic is crazy but you guys came to party tonight!” Sabrina said as she gave her speech to the crowd, even mentioning how the crowd was so loud she could hardly hear herself, calling it a “Blessing and a curse at the same time.”
During her “surprise song” part of the show, Sabrina played a game of spin-the-bottle, and whatever number the bottle landed on, she would sing a different song! For this particular show, she covered the song Material Girl by Madonna! Right before she performed her song Nonsense, Sabrina mentioned how she might have a “crush” on Raleigh because of how energetic and loud the crowd was.
As she transitioned to her third and final act, funny advertisements were placed on the screen that were puns related to some of the songs she performed, like an ad for tools hinting at her song Sharpest Tool. These ads kept the audience entertained as she changed into her final outfit and prepared for the final act.
For her final act, Sabrina came out singing her song Dumb & Poetic, and it was truly a beautiful and emotional moment. After that, she “arrested” someone who was in the pit by the stage for being “too hot.” The fan she picked for this received a pair of fuzzy pink handcuffs, which is a hint to her song Juno, which she performed next. The performance was filled with dancing and bright colors, and the stadium was filled with the screaming and cheering of fans.
The last song she performed was her hit song Espresso, closing the show with lots of confetti and smiles. Sabrina is an amazing performer, and her vocals and performance were phenomenal. Fans screamed their hearts out as she performed, shedding tears and dancing. The excitement of the fans is enough of a recommendation for you to attend one of her concerts in the future, it’s definitely worth every penny spent!
