Gator Day is a long-running tradition at Green Level that students look forward to every year. It is like a connectivity day, with plenty of fun student activities. However, the concept may be hard for someone new to the school. Thankfully, Mrs. Evans, the founder of Gator Day, has plenty to explain about it.
Gator Day was an idea from the students, who wanted a break from the constant pressure of school, and constant stress of grades and transcripts. Mrs. Evans said “Gator Day is something that was started by students two years ago because kids were stressed thanks to the high-pressure environment. So, they wanted to have some time built into the school day that was just for fun.” Gator Day has all sorts of fun activities, from movie viewings to pottery. It’s a great way for students to unwind and have fun with their friends. “It was just an opportunity to connect with their peers, and to invite people into their space.”
Green Level’s high amount of clubs adds to the greatness of Gator Day, but also the stress. “I think we have around 179 different clubs at Green Level,” she added. “This is an opportunity for clubs to give back to the school and to open up their club space for not just members, but for anybody who wanted to come and learn about what they did there.” The high amount of options in Gator Day is not a reason to be overwhelmed, it is an opportunity to expose yourself to new people and new experiences. The Gator Days for this school year are on December 6th and early March. They are still some time away, but they will come fast.
