At Green Level High School, lunch can mean something different for everyone. But with so many options, where’s the best place to sit? Whether you’re craving sunshine, peace, or a place to socialize, a perfect lunch spot is waiting for you.

That 10:47 bell, right after the second period, rushes everyone to go to their favorite lunch spot. Even though it’s early, everyone’s excited to eat some lunch, take a break from school, and hang out with their friends.

From sitting outside at the front of the school to the third floor in our favorite teachers’ classroom, Green Level students have an amazing selection of seating within the school. 

To start, for those who love being outdoors and enjoying the good weather, the front side of the school is the best place to sit. The wide range of seating choices outside gives the students a break from the school atmosphere. Whether you’re eating your lunch or spending some time outside, the wide array of outdoor seating and arrangement makes the front of the school a better place to relax. Sitting outside is perfect for someone who would like to escape indoor noise or bask in the sunlight. 

Saanvi Yerumaadu, a student at Green Level, says she prefers sitting outside because “the weather around lunchtime is generally really nice and sunny and also there’s a lot more space and areas to sit.” She says she likes it more as it allows her to go out once after sitting inside the whole day. 

But, this isn’t the case for everyone. Some people like to relax inside the building, especially when the weather is unpredictable. Students who like to socialize and hang out with friends in a quieter setting may prefer the top floors of the school or even the basement. If some teachers allow them to, some students may sit in classrooms and catch up on work or ask a teacher a question. For someone who wants to bond with teachers or use this extra time to study, a classroom opened by a teacher is the ideal spot to eat their meal. 

Aanika Somepalli, a freshman at Green Level, says she enjoys sitting on the third floor with her friends because “on the third floor in the collab area there is a lot of space so any friends can come to join any day they want and there will always be room”. She also says that her main reason for sitting inside is to “be as loud as we want and we can fool around a lot since there’s only two other lunch tables around us.” To Somepalli, the third floor is more comfortable and spacious. 

Finally, the cafeteria is like a social hub and remains the ultimate spot. With most of the school seated there during lunch, the large tables and seating arrangements allow groups of all sizes to come together and enjoy their lunch. It’s where many friends come together for the first time the whole day and enjoy the variety of food that Green Level provides from snacks to full meals. The cafeteria is located in the perfect spot of the school and is an ultimate convenience to anyone who doesn’t want to spend time searching for a place to sit. The vending machines located in the area have quickly gained popularity and attract more students to sit there.

Ashritha Suresh, another student at Green Level says she likes sitting in the cafeteria because “it’s the perfect temperature inside and it’s less loud”. She enjoys the large tables that can suit a large group of people. The seating arrangement allows her to see everyone she is talking to easily. The cafeteria also gives the perfect access to the vending machines, bathrooms, lunch line, and the utensils/condiments area. 

Lunch is also more than just a break from schoolwork; it’s a time to unwind, socialize, and enjoy time with friends. Whether you’re enjoying the weather outside at the front of the school or eating in peace in the upper levels of the building, the seating arrangements at Green Level are unlimited. The numerous seating choices ensure that no matter what your ideal lunch experience is, you’ll find the perfect place to recharge and reset before another class. Even a change in scenery could completely turn your day around. So, the next time you hear that lunch bell, take your pick – there’s a spot at Green Level for everyone!
