Gator Gala Recap
This past Friday Green Level High School hosted its first Winter Gala to raise money for the charity No Kids Hungry. The student government proposed the idea for the winter gala and has been working with the National Students Honor Society for Art and PTSA to organize this event. The idea for this event came from Enloe High School’s highly anticipated winter charity ball, which fundraises lots of money for the homeless while being student-led. The student government raised about 4,000$ for charity and sold 138 tickets.
A little more about the charity
All of the profit made from the dance went towards the charity, “No Kids Hungry”. Kids all over the world come to school without healthy food or any food at all. This charity gives grants to schools and communities to help kids all over the USA have food on their plates. They also have a research and analytics team to study the best strategies to help hungry children most efficiently.
In 2024, No Kids Hungry raised and gave nearly 18 million dollars to communities across the country. When buying a ticket there are two ticket options, a twenty-five dollar option and a fifty-dollar option. The more expensive option gives more proceeds to charity. A portion of the profit that the food truck makes will also be going to the charity as well.
Overall, the gala was a success and a win/win scenario because the student government made an impact on the local community, the underclassmen got a new dance, and we raised money for charity. “The dance had a bunch of stuff to do and was really fun,” Sophomore Micheal Xu says. “There was also a lot of food and didn’t have the awkward standing around the part cause of how many activities there were.”
