With less than 70 days remaining in the school year, seniors are gearing up for many festivities and final responsibilities. Their schedules are jam-packed with exciting celebrations, academic commitments, and essential tasks to complete before they walk across the stage.
One of the first things seniors must complete is getting their caps and gowns for graduation. This moment is so surreal, signifying the end of the four years of high school, and the opening of a brand new chapter. Caps and gowns will be distributed during advisory on Monday, March 10th.
Senior Reese McElreath is in disbelief about this moment.
“I think at first it felt very liberating to be handed the physical cap and gown. But then, when we went to sit down in the commons area I saw students begin to try their gowns on and I think it became all the more real that each of our high school careers are coming to an end. I got really sentimental because I realized how good we all have it and a lot of these people that are everyday characters of my life will be gone.” Says McElreath.
Next fun activity is spring break. While all grade levels get to experience the joys of spring break from March 31st to April 4th, this break is different for seniors. This time is so significant, it may be seniors’ last opportunity to vacation alongside family and friends during the same break, making it all the more meaningful and memorable.
A final event exclusive to upperclassmen is prom, taking place on Saturday, April 12th, right after this spring break. This unforgettable night will be held at the Embassy Suites in Cary, with a thrilling “Night in Vegas” theme.
Prom is a night of celebration. A night where all of your friends can gather together and have one last run go-around. You can get dressed up in your best attire, take many pictures, enjoy a nice dinner, and then finish off the night at the Embassy dancing the whole time.
Other exciting things seniors get to endure are Decision Day Donuts on May 1st from 6:30-7:30 am, Senior Sunset on May 21st from 7:30-9:00 pm, Senior Breakfast, and Yearbook Distribution on May 30th during Connectivity,
The final event that concludes senior year is Graduation. Graduation will be held at the Raleigh Convention Center on June 15th 2025 at 6PM. As seniors walk across the stage, grabbing their diploma, their high school career comes to an end. A surplus of emotions are felt, from not only the seniors themselves, but also every staff member accompanying them, as well as the entire audience.
Graduation and senior year coming to a close is definitely a bittersweet moment, but there is so much to look forward to. Highschool coming to a close concludes a wonderful four years, but the rest of seniors’ lives are just beginning.
