The Southeastern Wake Athletic Conference has been the home for Green Level Athletics for 5 years now. Even longer for other schools. Even though this conference has been here for years, it will now be making some significant changes. These changes include new teams and the new name of: Quad City 7.
According to NCHSAA records, the Southeastern Wake has technically been here for years but, but under different names. It was originally called the tri-seven, tri-eight, and tri-nine conference for years. Until the name then finally changed to Southeast Wake in 2013. Since then we have known it as the Southeast Wake Athletic Conference; or “SWAC” for short.
They will be abandoning the SWAC conference name, as well as other teams. Middle Creek, Holly Springs, and Cary High school are all moving out of the conference. Their replacements, and our new regular opponents are Jordan, and Willow Springs high school. This makes the Quad City 7 conference consist of: Panther Creek, Apex Friendship, jordan, Willow Springs, Apex, Green Level, and green hope.
The new conference is gonna bring new opponents and competition to Green Level’s athletics program. This new regular competition can either be welcomed, or be rejected out of fear of these tough schools. Graeden Prasad (member of the men’s basketball team) thinks, “I’m lowkey scared a bit against big schools like Jordan, but we can handle it.“ Although varsity football player Luc Mohammed believes, “Nah, we gon dominate all those teams either way.” So it’s a mindset you have to develop against these teams. Either you accept the challenge and demolish it, or be frightened and don’t; either way you tackle it head on.
So the new conference is gonna bring new competition, and new regular faces to the swamp. Although this will not be the end of facing those that have moved out of conference. “SWAC” is gonna be the thing of the past, but “Quad City 7” is the future.
