Our Green Level varsity volleyball team continued their season with a decisive 3-0 sweep against the Apex Friendship Patriots on Thursday, September 4. The Gators are currently undefeated this season, with a 2nd place conference ranking and 4th in the state.
Senior Riley Taylor, who holds the conference’s second-highest hitting percentage, said the team’s spirits are high following yet another win.
“It’s just another reassurance that we’re a good team and we know we can go far this season. I know the team’s goal is to win state, so this is a step closer to that,” Taylor said.
So far, the Gators have played games against Wakefield, Hoggard, J.H. Rose, Cardinal Gibbons, Orange, Panther Creek, Willow Springs, and Apex Friendship, the last three being conference games. They have swept every single team and currently hold an 8-0 overall record.
Taylor is proud of the team’s success so far this season. “I think we’ve done really well; we’ve had a consistent mindset of keeping calm and just playing our game against both good and bad teams.”
This series of early victories provides a powerful boost as the Gators look to ride their winning streak through their next conference match against the Apex Cougars on Tuesday, September 9 as well as the rest of the season.
