As the school year kicks off and senior festivities begin, the class of 2026 is starting things off on a bright note. On September 26th, early Friday morning, seniors gathered in the stadium for the annual Senior Sunrise, a tradition that symbolizes both a beginning and an ending.
This festivity united the entire senior class in a morning of excitement, laughter, and heartfelt yet bittersweet reflection. Dressed in their matching senior shirts, students filled the stadium with a sense of pride and camaraderie, creating a powerful moment that this celebration is the first of many last memories at Green Level.
More than just a sunrise, this morning served as a reminder that senior year is as much about shared experiences as it is about individual milestones. Students laughed as they huddled together for photos, enjoyed morning snacks and coffee from the Dunkin Donuts truck, and reminisced about their high school journey, four very memorable years at Green Level.
The atmosphere was joyful yet so reflective, a perfect blend of celebration and anticipation that every individual was sure to feel.
“Watching the sunrise with everyone made me realize how close we all are to the finish line,” said senior Kelly Harmon. “It’s not just about starting our last year, it’s also about appreciating all the people that we’ve done it all with. I’m so excited for this year and this really feels like the first memory of an amazing last year.”
While Senior Sunrise is a beautiful start, it also foreshadows what is to come. Later this spring, students will gather once again in the stadium for Senior Sunset, a bookend tradition that brings their journey full circle. The sunrise marks the beginning of senior year whereas sunset marks the end, symbolizing the closing of one chapter and the opening of another.
Between these two events, seniors will be granted the opportunity to experience both the excitement and challenges that come with being leaders of the school in their final year.
