Green Level’s talented actors are back to work! This year’s play Clue is set to take place October 24th, and 25th. The stardom of our theatre department can’t be denied, as they were nominated for multiple DPAC Rising Star Awards.
The fun and engaging family board game Clue was transformed into a movie in 1985, where it was then adapted into a comedy play during the 2000’s.
“I think comedy is hard because if you don’t nail the timing, then it’s such a let down.” Said director and theatre teacher Rebecca Craig. “I’m always aware of rehearsing it enough so our actors have it down.”
The amazing performers at our school are sure to put on an amazing show that is like no other. This year, it is expected to top previous years performance-wise.
“I’m excited to have Mr. Turski,” said Craig. “It means our tech is on another level than we’ve ever had before.”
Turski was recently hired by Green Level to be the new technical director and technical theatre teacher. He brings new ideas and some amazing skills to our school!
Rehearsals have already begun, as cast members are practicing after school 5 days a week.
“We rehearse every week until the show. It’s multiple hours a day and it’ll keep getting more time consuming as we get closer to the show,” said senior Riley Surmacewicz.
Even with the long hours, these hard-working students are excited to be a part of something fun and enjoyable during school.
The play also features two different casts, one called the “navy” cast and one called the “green” cast. Navy cast typically features upperclassmen or more advanced performers.
Surmacewicz is set to play Miss White, and has been acting for many years now and has been involved in countless productions at Green Level.
“I’ts going to hit me later on at opening night, I’m pretty shocked,” said Surmacewicz when speaking about it being her last play.
While there may be many lasts this fall, the theatre department has many more engaging events to see. The most exciting production of the year Seussical will take place in late winter.
