Last year, the Gymnastics team was the conference champions and also the state champions. They had their first meet of the season on September 2nd. Junior Caroline Dobrowski and Freshman Madeline Dziminski tied for first all around with a score of 39.0. This was an incredible score since the highest score possible is 40.0.
Dobrowski said, “I just like being with the team and being able to compete again. It was pretty good to win, it was a tight competition.”
Gymnastics competitions have a bunch of different schools competing against each other.
Dobrowski said, “I know Friendship was there, I feel like almost every school was there.”
In the most recent competition, Junior Colby Kessler earned first place all around with an impressive score of 38.85.
Kessler said, “It was really cool to win because this was my first meet of the season, and it just really set the tone for the rest of the season. I’m excited to see where it’s going to go.”
They went against different schools such as Apex, Apex Friendship, Panther Creek, Holly Springs, and some Raleigh schools. Even though they didn’t get the win as a team, they are still looking forward to the rest of the season.
Kessler said, “We’re feeling really good this year. We have a new team and a lot of incoming freshmen and sophomores that are going to contribute, and we’re ready to see how far our season can go this year.”
They have a very exciting season ahead and are hoping to get back-to-back conference and state championships.
