For the 25-26 school year, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) finalized a major conference realignment for the 25-29 cycle, expanding from four to eight classifications for schools statewide. This prompted many conferences to be reconstructed to better reflect differences in school sizes and competitive balance.
Green Level transitioned from the Southwest Wake Athletic Conference (SWAC) to the Quad City 7. While most opponents remain the same by this modification, some former conference members, such as Cary, Holly Springs, and Middle Creek have been replaced by Willow Spring and Jordan.
Green Level thrived during its time in the SWAC, building an impressive reputation across multiple sports. In just four years of competing in the group, the Gators captured 22 Southwest Wake Athletic Conference championships–a testament to the school’s steady growth and athletic talent.
The SWAC has long been regarded as one of the toughest, most competitive conferences in the region, demanding relentless effort and consistency from every team. For Green Level to achieve that level of success in such a rigorous environment speaks volumes about the dedication of the athletes, coaches, and community.
This realignment presents opportunities for Green Level to expand its athletic programs, sharpen competition, and increase visibility if strong performance continues against 8A peers.
As the fall season begins to wind down and conference championships take shape, history is already being made at Green Level. The women’s golf team will actually become the first program in school history to compete in a Quad City Seven championship.
Their milestone match is set for Wednesday, October 8th, with the opening tee time at 11:45am. The conference championship will be hosted at Keith Hills Country Club in Lillington, North Carolina, providing a fitting stage for the Gators to begin this new era of conference play.
“It’s been really fun to play in both the SWAC conference and our new one, the Quad City 7, and having the chance to play against different opponents. I’m really excited for this conference championship and to see how we, as well as all of the other schools, play,” says Junior Kathryn Karakostantis.
Volleyball, women’s tennis, and gymnastics also have their conference championships coming up, hoping to continue their amazing seasons and claim the conference title.
Green Level’s entry into Quad City Seven marks a major shift. The 25-26 school year will be the first test of how well the Gators adapt in sports from all seasons, and will hopefully create more opportunities to claim more conference titles.
