On October 9th, from 7:00-8:00pm, our Green Level chorus performed their fall concert. There was lots of music, energy, and pride filling the auditorium. Under the command of Ms. Faust, the concert showcased hard work and lots of talent from the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes.
Our amazing chorus director Ms. Faust, started off by giving a warm welcome to the audience and spoke briefly about the weeks of practices put in together and building something beautiful together. There was also a tasty fired up pizza food truck before the concert started, and Culver’s ice cream that you could enjoy after the show was over if you made a donation towards the chorus’ London trip.
The evening opened with “Wellerman” sung by the Tenor bass chorus group which was a lively performance and executed greatly. This was brought to life by soloists Cale White, Cam White, and Daksh Aithal whose strong vocals set in a tone for the evening. With Sophia Charles on Percussion, the performance carried a rhythmic momentum that really captured the spirit of the song.
The Tenor Bass chorus sang “Loch Lomond” (traditional Scottish) amazingly, delivering a heartfelt and stirring performance that captured the beauty and sorrow of the song. Right after was “Darkness on the Delta.” Which was a thrilling and haunting piece filled with a moody undertone.
After that the student-led Octav8 group sang “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish. This performance was both delicate and vibrant, capturing the song’s dreamy quality.
On to our level singers which sang “The Ballad of the Witches Road” A mysterious and enchanting piece from Disney’s Agatha all along. They followed with the gentle and reflective “The Arrow and the Song” showcasing their dynamic vocal control and sensitivity. Next to that coming in strong they sang “The Storm is Passing Over” which was a strong and theatrical performance.
Our advanced Tenor bass chorus was up next and they sang “Grim Grinning Ghosts” with a spooky effect going on and a grim but mysterious tone. This song was originally from the haunted mansion in Disney World, it really felt alive and spooky with this song.
Green Level’s new Half a Dozen choir group sang “L-O-V-E” which was a beautiful and loving song which filled the room with upbeat energy and smooth harmonies.
Finally our advanced girls group concluded with “Wild embers”, a haunting and empowering piece that showcased the ensemble’s dynamic range and emotional depth. Next Cikala le pong pong, a traditional pakpaknese folk song arranged by Ken Steven. The rhythmic and joyful piece gave a glimpse into the rich musical traditions of Indonesia.
Last but not least “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” a traditional Appalachian tune arranged by J. David Moore. This piece featured a touching solo by Namita Manoj, supported by a heartfelt trio performance from Adithi Kishore, Aradhana Anand, and Elijah Diaz-Perez.
Senior Halle Piper was performing with the advanced group Bella Voce last night and said, “together as a team we did great, and I think our fall concert was a success.”
The chorus teacher Ms. Faust, and pianist Mr. Cruz, both did an amazing job leading our chorus concert and our chorus class deserves lots of credit for their hard work and amazing effort.
Throughout the concert the performers showcased beautiful and thrilling performances and showed their hard work.
