Our Student Artist Spotlight Is On Mariana Gonzalez This Week!

As technology advances, new mediums for art are created. Digital art and online design have been gaining popularity in the past few years, and one student is especially skilled at it. Our student artist of the week, Marianna Gonzalez, is a sophomore who has a passion for this newer style.

Mariana has been creating art for the past four years. She works to improve every day. “I started art sometime in 2016, and immediately kicked off with digital art, and started digital animation in 2017,” she says, “Never been a big paper person.” With this constant effort, Mariana’s improvement has been rapid. “I don’t like to honk my own horn, but my progression and improvement have been a lot faster than most… I’m somewhat proud of that, as I’m only 15 years old.” Her age only makes her talents more impressive!

“My number one medium is digital art. I’m a digital artist and animator, and I love making digital illustrations,” Marianna says. Her pieces often focus on character design–her smooth shading, fun expressions, and dynamic poses make her art appealing and full of personality. The style looks straight out of an animated show–which makes sense, seeing Mariana’s knack for animation. There’s no doubt that her style will only continue to improve.

Mariana’s number one piece of advice for artists hoping to develop skills in digital art and animation is to be kind to yourself. “Have an open mind and patience, as it can get you a long way,” she says. “When going through a hard time, don’t give up.” She’s constantly trying to get better and is developing new skills every day. We can’t wait to see what comes next!

Thank you to Mariana for her interview! If you think you or somebody you know would make a good student artist to feature, please email [email protected]!
