The Orange Bowl

UNC and Texas A&M played this Saturday in Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium. Before this game UNC had a record of 8-3 and Texas A&M had a record of 8-1. These teams have a very close record and it looked like it would be a close game. UNC has played a few more games than Texas A&M so they might have had more improvement over the course of the season. Texas A&M on the other hand is second in their conference just under Alabama. My predictions for this game was that Texas A&M was going to be a very hard team to beat, but that it would be a close game.

In the first quarter with 12 minutes to go and UNC at the 10 yard line Sam Howell throws an interception to number 32 putting Texas A&M in great field position. Texas A&M follows that interception up by a touchdown from number 28, making the score 7-0. With 5 minutes to go in the first quarter and UNC down by 4 points Sam Howll threw an amazing touchdown pass to Dazz Newsome who barely caught the ball in the endzone.  The score at the end of the first quarter was 13-10 UNC. In the second quarter, Texas A&M finally scored with 25 seconds left to go. Texas A&M was on the 4 yard line and number 28 ran the ball into the endzone making the score 17-13 A&M. In the third quarter with 8 minutes left and UNC with the ball at the 10 yard line, Sam Howell threw a pass to Josh Downs who was wide open in the endzone. Now making the score 20-17 and giving UNC the lead back. At the end of the third the score was 20-20 after Texas A&M made a field goal. To start the fourth quarter Sam Howll threw a huge touchdown pass to Josh Downs. Now making the score 27-20 UNC. Texas A&M almost immediately responded to UNC’s touchdown with their own. Texas A&M had the ball at the 6 yard line and the quarterback number 11 ran the ball into the endzone to tie the game 27-27. Texas A&M doesn’t stop there with 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Number 6 ran the ball all the way from UNC’s 25 yard line all the way into the endzone making the score 34-27. Texas A&M did not stop there to secure the win; they scored one more rushing touchdown and made the final score of the game 41-27.

Overall I think it was a very close game all the way up till the fourth quarter. I think UNC should have expected a little comeback considering how good Texas A&M is, but at the end of the day it was a very close and hard fought game.
