The NBA has started once again, and has been going pretty smoothly. There have been games postponed here and there, but for the most part the players are staying safe and are doing pretty well. This year has been very different as many surprising teams are starting to show their real potential. Some have been doing better than expected, but some above average teams are starting to fall behind in the rankings. Here are some teams that have been doing great and continue to show their potential.

  1. Utah Jazz: This Donovan Mitchell led Utah Team is starting to really establish themselves as real contenders, they just have to take it to the next level. The Jazz have been considered a playoff team for a while now, but the Jazz are really starting to show that they can be real championship contenders. Donovan Mitchell has been going crazy this season leading the team with 24.3 points, 4.1 rebs, and 5 assists. They are currently the 1st seed in the Western Conference.
  2. Philadelphia 76ers: Philly is off to an amazing start this season currently holding the first seed in the Eastern Conference. Ben Simmons (PG) and Joel Embiid are starting to become a problem for the East. Joel Embiid is averaging 27.7 points (5th), 11.5 rebs (7th), and 2.7 assists. Ben Simmons is helping out with 8.4 rebs (21st) and 7.9 assists (7th).
  3. Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks are not off to the greatest start this season, but they are in the playoff picture currently at the 6th seed in the East. They’re good additions and improvements this offseason have really bumped them up to a playoff team. With Trae Young dominating on offense, and John Collins helping out on defense this team could really be a problem for other East contenders.
  4. Memphis Grizzlies: Memphis has a young star on the rise In Ja Morant he has been injured, but he has returned and is doing pretty well. Morant is averaging 22 points, 2 rebs, and 7 assists. The Grizzlies are currently 5th in the West with a 9-7 record. If the grizzlies can continue to stay healthy they are going to be a fun team to watch.
  5. Cleveland Cavaliers: The Cavs have been a very surprising team, and for the first time in almost 3 years the Cavs are in the playoff picture. Colin Sexton is the first player after Lebron to show some all star potential. The Cavs are luckily the 7th seed with a 10-12 record in the East. If stars like Kevin Love do return, this team could finally make the playoffs again.
