Are you interested in a career in the arts, but you aren’t sure how to pursue that? Mr. Mapp can help. The Arts department is starting a monthly event on different types of creative careers. They’ve put together a panel of eight artists to talk about their work. “Each of the artists on the panel will have a short presentation about their jobs and career paths, and then participants will be able to ask questions,” Mr. Mapp explains.

Some of the artists featured are painter Leslie Prunaeu, sculptor Matt Connell, NC State professor and sculptor Greg Carter, and the NC Museum of Arts’ Michelle Harrel. Other professors, painters, photographers, and sculptors will also be there to answer student’s questions.

The Art Chat isn’t just limited to Mr. Mapp’s students–he encourages anyone interested to join. If you or your family would like to join the event, email him for the link. The panel will take place on February 17th, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. You can come in for all of it, leave halfway, or join late: whenever you decide to pop in or out, you’ll have the great opportunity to learn more about these unique careers.
