Gator Sports Roundup: 3/1-3/6

Football: The JV team took a tough 42-0 loss to Athens Drive on 3/4. The Varsity Football team had their first ever home game on Friday 3/5 also against Athens. It ended in an unfortunate 24-6 loss, however Cameron Chatman managed to score the first home varsity touchdown in school history on a screen pass from QB Carter Devereux.
Soccer (M & W): Varsity Men’s got a big 6-1 win at Hillside on 3/3, however proceeded to lose 5-0 to Jordan on 3/5, and 1-0 to Athens Drive on 3/5.
Tryouts were held this past week for Women’s Soccer. Their first official practice will be held on Monday, 3/8. Following that will be their first game on 3/15.
Lacrosse (M & W): Men’s Lacrosse defeated Green Hope 12-4 on 3/3 and followed that up with another win against Cary on 3/4. They swept Green Hope this week with a 8-4 win on 3/5. This improved the Gators to 7-1 on the season as they get ready for a key matchup against Jordan next week, one that will likely determine who makes the state playoff.
Golf (M & W): Tryouts were held for golf this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. The first practice will be on Tuesday 3/9 and the first match is scheduled for 3/15.
Tennis: Tennis had tryouts canceled on Monday due to the rain. Thankfully, the weather cleared up later in the week, allowing the team to get back on the court. Their first match is pending.
Softball: The Softball team had tryouts this Monday-Wednesday. Their first match is scheduled for March 15th at Hillside.
