M. Sunku argues why Green Level High School should make an investment in solar panels.

Green Level High School should be green. So far, we have made small changes like recycling bins and cleaning our campus, but none of these solutions are long term.

We should invest in rooftop solar panels because they have many advantages. They reduce electricity bills, have low technology costs, and are a clean source of renewable energy. An added benefit is that students can see how renewable energy is easy to use, hopefully inspiring them to also make the switch to solar.

The cost of solar panels is around $20,000 for a 10 kilowatt installation, but it is an amazing long term investment due to the low maintenance costs and less electricity bills. We also know for a fact that Green Level will stand for a long time, making this initiative worth the funding.

The cost has also been falling around 20% for the past 5 years, so it is worth it now more than ever to invest.

The biggest benefit is that we will be able to reduce the amount of pollution we let out by a lot. While the manufacturing of the panels contains hazardous material that could indirectly harm the environment, it’s still a fraction of the effects of using non-renewable energy.

What have you been doing to slow the effects of global warming?

Green Level, do your part. Make the changes to prolong our planet!
