Ashley Hughes, a Senior here at Green Level has committed to further her athletic and academic career at the University of Nevada.

UNLV is located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and approximately 15 minutes from “the Strip”, which refers to the stretch of South Las Vegas Boulevard in Clark County that is lined with bright city lights. “It’s so pretty… I am just so excited to go”, Hughes states. 

When asked about her recruiting process, she explained that she had a specific recruiter that reached out to coaches, and then the coaches would contact her.

In regards to UNLV, she says, “… after talking to them I went out for an official visit and I just loved the school so I called him later and was like – I want to commit here.”

Hughes was able to inform us that she competes as a long distance, freestyle swimmer, in events including the mile swim. She says that she will continue to train on her club team throughout the upcoming year as she prepares to perform at the collegiate level.

The advice she gives for young student athletes with hopes to play at the collegiate level is, “Don’t be nervous, just be yourself and be excited… try to find the best fit for you… don’t force anything.”
