It’s truly hard to believe that it has been almost three months since school started. What better way to celebrate this than Thanksgiving break itself. Thanksgiving is a time for getting together with friends and family, and of course, eating turkey. There are lots of cool things to do during the Thanksgiving break. However, if you want to squeeze in one final escape before Christmas, you need not look further than North Carolina itself.

Let’s kick off this list starting with Asheville. Asheville offers the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains with tons of breathtaking scenery. You will also find a great celebration in the Biltmore Estate, which starts its Christmas celebration relatively early with huge Christmas trees. This location is perfect if you are just trying to spend some quality time with your family.

Next up on the list is Boone. Just 20 minutes up from Blowing Rock is Boone. This is a luxury inn that has been serving home-cooked meals for the last 50 years. This is perfect if you’re looking for a scrumptious home-style Thanksgiving dinner without actually having to cook it. Some attractions nearby include the Appalachian ski trail, The Daniel Boone Heritage Trail, and a couple of exquisite brewing companies.

Last up on the list is Wrightsville Beach. If you’re not ready for the Winter and need one last taste of the Summer, then this is just the place for you. Wrightsville has anything a beach can offer and more. One of the coolest attractions here is the nighttime holiday parade on the water. According to Trips to Discover, “Each year, over Thanksgiving weekend, the city celebrates with a series of festive events including a tree lighting ceremony and visit with Santa, a Friday Night Party, the Festival in the Park and the most popular part of the whole weekend.”

Well, that about wraps it up. Hope you liked the suggestions!
