Common Resolutions for the New Year

A resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something. Around the beginning of the New Year, people like to make resolutions to follow through the year and many people take this seriously. Others, however, let go of their resolutions very quickly. 

Here are the most common resolutions for the new year: 

The most common resolution is to exercise more. A lot of people set goals for themselves, especially when it comes to fitness and getting exercise in. However, not a lot of people keep up with their goals and successfully reach them. That’s why resolutions exist. Unfortunately, resolutions aren’t always taken seriously. Making a commitment and being reasonable and realistic is a large part of the resolution to exercise in the new year. 

Another resolution is to get organized. Whether you’re in school, college, or living life as an adult, organization is key in anything you do. Many people like to start the new year fresh, with new materials and a fresh workspace and headspace. Keeping things neat and organized helps with feeling like a new and refreshed person! Being organized is a good quality to have because it helps people prioritize their activities and helps reduce stress. 

Learning a new skill or getting a new hobby is yet another common resolution. A lot of people have things they are good at but trying new things was never a crime! People like to pick up new languages, baking and cooking skills, sports and other things all the time. And what better time to do that than at the beginning of the year?

Live life to the fullest. Now this is a New Years’ Resolution that is different for each person. Some people don’t take risks as much as they would like and they see the new year as a new opportunity to try new things and take risks. Step out of their comfort zone. No matter what age you are, it’s time to take control of your life and live it how you want to live it. Especially after being quarantined for two years, people want to get some normalcy back. 

Another resolution for the new year is to save more money or try to spend less money. People who have jobs just can’t help themselves when it comes to buying new things like clothes. A common resolution for the new year is to save up money and accumulate a large amount over time. 

Reading has always been a huge part of people’s lives but there are many people out there who would like to read more than they already do and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that statement. That’s what libraries and bookstores are for! If you want to sit down with a good book, go right ahead.

All these resolutions won’t succeed without some helpful tips though. According to Go Skills, before setting a certain resolution, you should always mentally prepare for change. You should set a goal that really motivates you, not just a random goal you think would be fun. A lot of people like to go crazy with these so another tip is to limit your resolutions to a reasonable amount. Writing your goals down always helps you keep track of them better. And finally, stay motivated! Losing motivation along the way is a big problem for many people and the more you can motivate yourself, the closer you get to completing your resolutions!
