Klay Thompson’s Big Return

Two years filled with setbacks had nothing on NBA Star Klay Thompson. Thompson is a big time player for the NBA team the Golden State Warriors. Having him out for two years on multiple rough injuries, hurt the Warriors. Thompson produced both offensively and defensively for the team and showed how much he was missed just through the stats he produced on his first game back.  Klay Thompson returned to play for the first time in two years on Jan. 9, 2022, Golden State vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. With it being his first game back he performed exceptionally well ending with seventeen points, three rebounds, and one assist with only having played 20 minutes. The final score of the game was 96-82 with Golden State coming out with the victory. Thompson’s numbers significantly helped contribute to the win, considering they only won by 14 points.

Klay Thompson suffered an ACL tear in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Final and then proceeded to tear his Achilles in November of 2020. Both injuries prevented him from playing any minutes the last two years. Having Thompson out was devastating, but clearly these injuries weren’t going to stop him and have only made him stronger.

The Warriors are excited to have him back and us Golden State fans like myself are also stoked to see him back out on the court. Wishing them the best of luck the rest of this season!
