Green Level Women’s Soccer Knockout the Cary Imps

Today was a very back and forth game between the lady Gators and lady Imps.

The Imps got their name on the board first with a penalty kick that was rewarded to them after a cross from a corner kick. It was hard to see what exactly the call was that gave the Imps a penalty, however they capitalized on this opportunity and take a lead of 1-0.

The score remained 1-0 at halftime in favor of Cary, the gators came out firing in the second half by playing lots of long balls to get their fast wingers involved and try to equalize the game. Ava Falick found a little wiggle room and sneaked the game-tying goal in about 10 minutes into the second half.

About 15 minutes left in the game the Gators drew a foul right outside the 18-yard box where senior Zoe Willis would step up for the free-kick. Zoe laced one up and smashed one right above the keeper to give the Gators the lead. Cary was putting some pressure on the Gators in the last couple of minutes but senior Rebecca Cody joined Zoe Willis in locking down the defense for the last couple of attacks from the Imps. This is a huge win for the Gators as they tally their third win of the season.

The Gators take on the (3-0) Middle Creek Mustangs on Wednesday, a huge matchup early on in the season for both teams.
