Early Friday evening, The Gators defeated one of their rivals, The Apex Cougars, in a hard-fought game from both sides. 

The Gators were locked into the game, but the Cougars were too, resulting in a one-point game that went into overtime. The game was tied the whole way through, with the score going into OT being 14-14. The Gators recuperated themselves on the sideline and discussed the plays that would secure them the win. They went back into the game with a game plan and scored a quick goal within two minutes making the final score 15-14 a Gator win!

One player who dominated the game and was a crucial part of the Green Level Lacrosse team is faceoff guy, Josh Smith. Going against one of the best faceoff guys in the state, Josh went over 50% on faceoffs which is outstanding. I asked him a couple of questions about the game and his individual performance.

Why do you think you were able to be so successful on faceoffs?

“I think I was locked in mentally and hearing the whistle well.”

What do you think you can work on to make yourself even better?

“I can work on my stick skills, and increasing my shooting speed.”
