Gator Lacrosse is in a Groove
March 21, 2022
On Friday night, when everybody was enjoying their day off from school, The Green Level Men’s Lacrosse Team was preparing for a battle against their rivals, The Panther Creek Catamounts.
The Gators came in looking for a blowout which is exactly what they got, going up 8-0 in the first quarter with both Dean Hryn and Gus Maggio scoring 2 goals each. They didn’t slow down at all in the second quarter, putting up another 6 goals with Austin Hryn putting up half of those goals by himself. The second half was more of the same, with The Gators holding The Catamounts to only one goal while putting up 5 more of their own. The final score of the game was 19-1, a Gator Victory!
The top scorer for this game was Dean Hryn who had 3 goals and 2 assists. I asked how he feels the game went and how he performed individually. “The team really came together against PC because a lot of our players have a history with their school. It was personal for a lot of us, and we came out wanting to win. I had 3 goals and 2 assists so it was a good game personally and I just love how the boys came together for our seniors.”
On Tuesday, the Gators took on the Green Hope Falcons, continuing a great performance the past week for Green Level.
The Gators started the game out strong, scoring 4 goals, not blowing anyone away with the score at the end of the first quarter being 4-0. In the second quarter, The Gators still managed to maintain their shutout while putting up 6 more goals. The second half was more of the same with The Gators scoring 7 more goals and still keeping The Falcons to 0 goals, making the final score of the game 17-0 a Gator victory!
Star freshman, Harrison Murray, not only scored a goal against The Falcons, but he has 10 goals and 1 assist for the season. This would be impressive if it was an upperclassman but the fact that he is a freshman makes it even more impressive. I asked him how he feels the season is going, and what his personal goals are for the season. “The season is going great, we’re 6-2 and I feel there are many more wins to come. My personal goal for the season is to get all-county for freshmen because it would be a big accomplishment to add to my resume.”
