Over spring break, while the rest of us were on vacation, reclining at beaches, or visiting our families, The Green Level Men’s Baseball Team was at home competing in the 33rd Annual Bobby Murray Tournament.

Green Level took on The Millbrook Wildcats in the first game of the tournament. Jack Welsh(SO) only allowed 1 run in six innings pitched, and a three-run first inning got the gators off and running. Nick Luff(JR) went 2-2 with two Runs Batted In, including his 3rd home run of the season. Green Level won by a commanding 6-1 scoreline

For game 2, The Gators faced off against Wake Forest in their second game. They won 4-3 off the back of a Drew Downs save. Austin Arbon(JR) and Shane Francfort (SR) both collected two hits. This put them into the championship game, where they took on Northern Durham High School.

In the championship game, The Gators went up against The Northern Knights. They were triumphant, with a 6-5 win with the help of Carter Zamora who pitched the last 3 innings.Once again, Shane Francfort (SR) had a big game with 2 RBIs alongside Nathaniel Roller (SO) who had 2 RBIs s well.

We interviewed Shane Francfort about the tournament and his individual performance.

You guys had a great tournament, how is the team feeling?

We feel good, we had a few losses prior to the tournament, but we came back and had 3 wins in a row. It was big for us.”

You had a great day at the plate, what was your key to success?

I tried not to think too much. I really just didn’t want to do too much at the plate. That was it.

Congratulations on this big win Gators and good luck with the rest of your season!
