Women’s Tennis Off to a Strong Start

4-0 Winning Streak To Begin the 2022-23 Season

The Women’s Tennis team competed this past Monday, Aug 29th against Apex High at our home courts. 

They have been on a 3-game win streak to start the season; winning a total of 26 out of their 27 total matches played.

Coming off of last season’s results, with an 11-5 overall record, appearance at States, 2-time Conference Doubles Champions, and having regional finalists. The Gators have come back to the swamp ready to make this season another successful one!

Monday, they added to their winning streak, defeating the Cougars in an 8-1 match win.

“I think we did really good…even though some of our matches were close we pushed through”, says So. Aarna Prashanth. 

Prashanth won her singles match with a 6-1 first set win followed by a 6-0 win in the second set. She also competed in a doubles match with Jr. Ariana Mohan and won 8-4.

So. Riya Pragada, Sr. Sania Musti, Fr. Ankitaa Radhkrishnan, and Sr. Emily Palmer also won all of their singles matches on Monday. In addition, Radhkrishnan with Pragarda, and Musti with Hisaria; both pairs winning their doubles matches 8-2. 

When asked about her preference playing singles or doubles, Prashanth said that she enjoys both and couldn’t choose between the two.

“I think this season is going to be better than last. I think because we have improved a lot and we have a lot more experience,” Prashanth said.

The Women’s Tennis team travels to Holly Springs Wednesday, August 31st to compete against the Golden Hawks and continue their season!
