After a week off, the men’s golf team took on Falls Village Golf Club on Monday. Going into that match, they had placed 3rd in 2 of the matches and in 2nd in the other three. They have had a very strong start to the season with having at least 1 even par or under par score per match.

This week the gators took home second place with a team score of 151. They were 9 stroked behind Green Hope but the gators pulled ahead of Apex Friendship by 2 strokes! There have been low scores for the team each week but this week, SO. Davis Hunter fired a 35 (-1) which has been the second-lowest score of the season for the Gators. There were also three other scores in the 30s. SR. Drew Eggers shot a solid 38 (+2) and SO. Quin Covington and JR. Cooper Champ both shot 39 (+3).

I got the chance to talk to Davis about his round and his outlook on the rest of the season.

What was your mindset going into the Falls Village match?

Really just to try and play my best. I haven’t been playing that good so mindset was just try and focus more and do my best to compete in the match and help my team out.

What goals do you and the team have for the remainder of the season?

We definitely want to try and win a match outright and just do the best we can as a team. Also to make regionals and states and to do good in those. Just overall have a good season.

The team has their home match at the Preserve on Tuesday 3/28 at 2:30 so be sure to wish them luck and come out and support if you can! Good luck guys, we know you are gonna play great!
