On Tuesday, March 5th, the men’s golf team took on the Preserve at Jordan Lake for their second match of the season. This was their home match and was expected to be a tough match as the course was extremely wet as well as covered with lots of bunkers and hazards.
The Gators placed 3rd in this match with a score of 150 and the low scorer for the team was Davis Hunter with a score of 36 (E). Then came Champ (37) and Covington (38) coming in right behind him. Apex Friendship came in 2nd with 149 and then Green Hope in 1st with 144.
I got a chance to talk to Hunter about his round the other day.
What was your thought process going into Tuesday’s match?
“It’s our home course so I just wanted to play well. I didn’t play well in the practice round on Monday and I just needed to relax and try and do my best to help out my team.”
How has the team been preparing for this season?
“We’ve definitely had a lot of practices, we are trying to get connected as a team and build up the team chemistry and just really trying to put in the work and get the team better as a whole.”
What are your goals for the rest of the conference season?
“Just continue to play well, try to relax, and have fun. Just keep on doing what we are doing.”
The team continues on their season at RGA on 3/7 for their 3rd conference match. Good luck to the guys and we are looking forward to the rest of the season!
