The Green Level men’s soccer team’s season has come to a close. With a final record of 9-11-3, finishing 6th in the Southern Wake Athletic Conference (SWAC). They went into the playoffs, upsetting the 5 seed Pinecrest in the first round of playoffs 4-0 and ultimately losing to Green Hope in the second round.
Even though their season has come to an end, they had a bunch of fun with each other.
“I had really fun this season even though it wasn’t the outcome we wanted but wouldn’t want to do it with any other team,” said Jalen Gibbs
Although the team didn’t end in the way they hoped it was still a good season with making the state playoff and making a huge upset in the first round of the playoffs.
During the season they had many injuries, once everyone was healthy they upset Pinecrest, so they were only scratching the surface of what the possibility could’ve been. With 23 points for the team on the season was Joshua Thomas and following right behind him with 21 points was Sawyer Backus. With Jalen Gibbs being their main defender with 13 steals.
The soccer team will lose 12 seniors this season, so they are looking for a big step up for the younger classes to keep the tradition of the soccer team after their third straight appearance in the state playoff
