The Gators hosted the #21 seed Jordan Falcons on Tuesday Night in the first round of the NCHSAA playoffs. Green Level won in dominating fashion, securing a 15-4 victory. The Gators held a 10-0 halftime lead, thanks to 4 combined goals between the Ahart brothers. Recently promoted to the starter, Sr. Goalie Eshaan Gandhi held a shutout in the first half. The Gators continued to roll in the 2nd half, winning the game 15-4. Harrison Murray tacked on 3 goals of his own, breaking the school record for most goals in a single season with 164 goals.
“Being able to break the goal record at Green Level is an awesome accomplishment. Throughout my 4 years there’ve been a handful of people who have led the way for me and taught me so much in order to get to where I am now.” Murray said
Murray has been an instrumental piece of the development of the program and now he has broken Austin’s Hryn record to truly leave his mark on the program.
The Gators have a date with #5 seed Chapel Hill on Friday, the Tigers went 12-7 this season, winning their conference. Both teams have played against Jordan, Apex and Apex Friendship this eason. Sr. Zach Miller is their leading scorer averaging 3.1 GPG.
The Gators will have to rely on their offense to win this game. Sr. Harrison Murray and Sr. Kelan Moore are one of the best duos in Wake County. They’ll also need some of their young guys to step up such as So. Will Melson and So. Sam Dickson.
“We feel prepared and ready after losing to Friendship on Senior Night, no one wants to feel like that again. We are ready to see how far this team can go.” Moore said
The veterans have confidence in this team and don’t want to go out on a loss. This team is experienced in the playoffs and this group will need to rely on their championship pedigree to move forward. The winner of this 2nd-round matchup will play the winner of #4 Heritage and #13 East Chapel Hill.
