Gators Take on the Falcons
On Friday, January 10th, the Gator basketball teams took on Green Hope in their first-ever matchup in the swamp.
The Men’s Varsity game held special meaning, since both teams honored one of Green Hope’s players, Tyler Trexler. Tyler, unfortunately, has cancer and students and families were asked to wear yellow to support him during his fight.
As the game got underway, Green Hope came out quick and outscored the Gators 22-5 in the 1st quarter. The Gators had no answer for the Falcons as Green Level couldn’t defend their high flying offense. Green Hope outscored the Gators 34-14 in the first half.
Green Hope came out quick out of the locker room and continued their dominance in the 3rd quarter. Green Level didn’t give up though, as they worked very hard in the 4th quarter, outscoring the Falcons 14-12. The late surge wasn’t enough, and the Gators lost the game 64-37. Trey Boyd led the team with 11 points, 1 assist, and 9 rebounds.
The Gators will look to bounce back when they come back to the swamp to play against the Cary Imps on January 14th.
