Green Level Defeats Union Pines 33-20 On Opening Night

The Green Level JV Football Team left the swamp for the first time last night in search of a victory and after 48 minutes of football–they found one.

On Thursday, August 29th the Green Level JV Football Team, coached by Ben Goudeau, defeated Union Pines 33-20 at Wilhoit Stadium in Cameron, North Carolina. The win marks the first football win in Green Level history.

The Gators opened scoring in the 1st quarter when Carter Devereaux connected with Bryce Friedlander for a 15 yard touchdown pass to give the Gators a 7-o lead. Union Pines returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown making the score 7-6. In the 2nd quarter, the Gators found their stride with a strong defensive effort and 2 touchdowns from Cameron Chatmon to take a 21-6 lead at halftime.

After the half, Green Level added 2 additional rushing touchdowns, one from Chatmon, his 3rd score of the night, and the final touchdown of the night coming on a 3 yard touchdown run from Dylan Nokes. The defense played well throughout the night coming up with several key stops late in the game.
