26 games plus playoffs are on tap for baseball’s first full season.

After an 8-5 season in 2021, Green Level Baseball is ready for their first season with seniors. It will also be their first full season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After playing 13 games last season, they are scheduled for double the games this season with 26 plus playoffs. The team has already begun workouts. Tryouts are coming up on 2/14 for anyone interesting in making the team.

We got to talk to sophomore, Drew Downs, who has committed to play for Vanderbilt University. He recently transferred from Wesleyan Christian Academy to play for Green Level. This will be his first season with the team.

What do you bring to the team this year?

D. Downs: Consistent hitting and experience. I played in the state championship last year so I definitely bring experience.

What are your goals for this season?

D. Downs: I want to make it back to the state championship and hit 10 or more home runs.

We also talked to senior, Logan Govan, to discuss his hopes for the team in his final year.

What do you look to improve this season?

L. Govan: Better leadership. We have freshman becoming sophomores and sophomores moving up from JV. Teaching them what varsity is like is important.
