Gators Blow Competition Out of the Water at Regional Meet

This weekend the Green Level swim and dive team had a great performance at Greensboro Aquatics Center for the 2022 Regionals Meet. The Gators had just finished their conference meet last Wednesday, resulting in multiple regional qualifiers. Leading up to the meet the gators had a short time to prepare, but the hopes for the team were higher than ever. Nevertheless, the team did not disappoint, with many state-qualifying swimmers and podium appearances for the gators.

The Gators had three swimmers who qualified for states in individual events. Samantha Armand, a Junior at Green Level won 1st place in the 50 Freestyle, and 2nd place in the 100 Breast, qualifying for both events in the state championship. Colton Wade, also a junior, came in 4th place for the 50 Freestyle, winning him a spot in the state championship as well. Lastly, sophomore Matthew Schoenagel came in 4th in the 100 Breast, earning him a ticket to state champs.

In addition to this, the men’s 400-yard freestyle relay team came in fourth in an intense race to close out the meet. Matthew Honaker, Matthew Erickson, Colton Wade, and Connor Peck gave it their all in an intense race to win them a spot in the 4A NCHSAA State Championship. Incredible job to those who raced at regionals, and best of luck to the Gators off to the states.
