Here at Green Level, dance is not just about choreography and performance; it’s about passion, teamwork, and expression. Leading the way is Mrs. Dula, the school’s dance coach and teacher. From practice to performance, she continues to inspire students to push beyond their limits and find confidence both on and off the stage.
While Mrs. Dula continues to inspire kids daily, let’s explore what inspired her.
Dula has danced since she was young and loved every aspect of performing and being on stage. She grew up with amazing instructors who really shaped her into who she is today. She was inspired by one of her own high school teachers.
“One of my high school teachers, Mrs. Pappy, was a really great inspiration to me. She really pushed me so much. She was also on tour with these big artists and choreographed for them, so it was really inspiring to me to want to be someone like her.” Said Dula.
Dula is known for giving her students the confidence they need both on and off stage. She encourages them to express themselves through every movement and believe in their abilities. Her passion is contagious, and she often reminds her dancers how powerful performing can be. When Dula was a student herself, her favorite part of dance and what really got her wanting to continue her passion was how she felt on stage.
“The way that I started performing, I really enjoyed the adrenaline rush and the feeling of being on stage and having so much to prepare for and then just being able to let it all out on stage.” Said Dula.
Some may know her as just a dance teacher here at the school, but she runs the Green Level dance team/program as well. Many think of her as a very good fit for this role as a coach, and she has proved them right over the years. She wants to continue growing the program to make it the best it can be.
“I want to keep building the department and make it as big as it can be, maybe add some more shows and just see how many more people we can get into the program and start changing things up, adding more things here and there.” Dula says.
Mrs. Dula’s journey from an inspired young dancer to a high school dance educator and coach shows the power of passionate mentorship. Just as her high school teacher, Mrs. Pappy, propelled her into a deeper love for dance, Mrs. Dula now channels that inspiration to empower her students at Green Level. She doesn’t just teach steps; she encourages expression and helps students get into the amazing adrenaline rush of performance that first captivated her. As she looks to the future, her dedication to growing the dance program promises to continue providing a vibrant, supportive, and dynamic platform for Green Level dancers to shine, both on the stage and in life.
