The highlight of the month of November for many people is Thanksgiving. Getting out of school, eating a lot of food, and catching up with family and friends. However, the Thanksgiving weekend is also eagerly anticipated by many people.
The Friday of Thanksgiving break, often referred to as “Black Friday,” is heavily looked forward to. Extending through the following Monday, known as “Cyber Monday,” many stores across the country have lower prices and discounts for many items. Consumers use the weekend to shop for items, and even Christmas gifts, to make use of the cheaper prices.
Clothing stores like JCPenney and Belk headline the stores with the best deals overall, with items selling out in only minutes. Macy’s and Kohl’s are also known for high attendance from shoppers.
People can decide whether to go into stores to look for deals or stay at home scouring the internet for good deals among websites. Each has its own benefits, but what do different students prefer?
Junior Janelle Marerro is in favor of online, as it allows for more flexibility when shopping.
“It’s easier to access more stores and get better deals,” Marerro said.
Marerro also has a certain website she navigates to every year for her own shopping.
“Aerie is a website I shop at; it has good deals for clothing I like,” Marerro explained.
Sophomore Ella Clark is also in favor of online shopping, but for reasons about the nature of in-person shopping.
“In person is scary for me; everyone floods the stores and rushes in so quickly,” Clark explained.
Many Black Friday deals are already posted on various websites for consumers to take advantage of early. Using these Black Friday deals can save people various amounts of money, so take advantage of them while they last!
