The newest film in the Avatar series, Avatar: Fire and Ash, came out on December 19th and is now showing in theatres. James Cameron, who was director of the first two movies which released in 2009 and 2022. He builds off the previous movies in the sequel and continues telling the story about Pandora, where rare alien-like creatures exist.
James Cameron has worked on many award winning films such as the Titanic and the first Avatar. He is accompanied by a very skillful cast. Sam Worthington does an excellent job bringing the character Jake Sully to life, the former warrior who is living with the people of Pandora, also known as the Na’vi. Zoe Saldana plays the character of Neytiri, who is a fierce fighter whose character plays a big role in the plot of the movie.
While the first movie revealed the planet’s eye-catching beauty as well as the human colonizers and indigenous Na’vi’s conflict, and the second one focuses on the underwater realms, this sequel has brought volcanic landscapes and heightened conflict that the series expands with. The series is also known for having high quality CGI effects and visual effects that make you feel like you are right there with them. Student Janna Kourany went and saw the movie in theaters along with many others who are big fans of the whole series.
“It was really one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It was one of those movies where the plot is interesting the whole time and doesn’t ever get boring.” Kourany stated, “It was really well produced and I can tell that they spent a lot of time and money on the effects that made the people of Pandora look very realistic. I also think the plot was very good because it went well with the first two and built off of them.”
The first two movies together profited over 5 Billion dollars since they have been released. Avatar: Fire and Ash has already grossed over 1 billion dollars since its release less than a month ago, and it is on track to be one of the highest making movies ever.
