During the holiday season, people find comfort in their homes, and food plays a big part in that, especially sweet treats. Cookies are a big staple in school lunchboxes, bake sales, and homely evenings. But when it comes down to it, which sweet treat is supreme, and which one ends up getting left on the plate? We hit the hallways to find out students’ honest, sometimes controversial, opinions on the best and worst types of cookies.
When it comes to baked goods, the sugar cookie stands out as the ultimate classic. Whether you prefer them soft with a thick layer of buttercream frosting or thin and delicate, they serve as a canvas for every holiday and celebration.
Sophomore Blade Bundschu agrees with this statement and explains, “I think sugar cookies are the best type because they taste the best and I love it when my mom buys them from the store.”
Another amazing cookie is the classic chocolate chip. Perfect for any event or if you just want a sweet treat to make at home. Whether you get them from a bakery or just break apart the pre-made dough from the store, they’re the best comfort food ever and basically impossible to stop eating after just one.
Freshman Peter Napelenok exclaims why he agrees with this, as this celebratory season brings lots of nostalgia and heartfelt memories.
“I think chocolate chip cookies are the best type of cookie because when I think of Christmas and seasonal treats and memories, they come to mind, and it just makes me feel happy.” Says Napelenok.
In the end, everyone has their own opinions on which cookie type is the best. No matter which one you choose to bake, though, you really can’t go wrong with a warm batch of cookies to start this holiday season!
